Health Protection in Sport

Delegate for Health Protection in Sport Article 67.

The President of the Royal Spanish Golf Federation, after consulting the Board of Directors, will appoint a Delegate for health protection in sport.
Their duties will be:
a) Ensure compliance with the regulations established by the Spanish Commission for the Fight Against Doping in Sport (CELAD).
b) Provide anti-doping education to athletes and support staff in coordination with CELAD.

My doctor has prescribed me a medication that contains a banned substance, but it's necessary for my health. Does this exempt me from doping control?

In this case, a therapeutic use exemption (TUE) must be requested at least 21 days before the competition. The competent body for granting these exemptions is the Therapeutic Use Exemption Committee of the Spanish National Sports Council (CSD). The CSD has set up an online portal for processing TUE applications. Are there out-of-competition controls?

Indeed.

Out-of-competition controls are carried out either for monitoring purposes or as a prelude to European or world competitions.

According to Royal Decree 641/2009 of April 17, out-of-competition controls by direct designation will be carried out within the framework of an Individualized Control Plan in accordance with the criteria established in article 69.

In which championships will doping controls be carried out?

CELAD is responsible annually for determining the doping controls to be carried out both in and out of competition. All registered athletes are subject to being called for a doping control.

How can I find out if a medication is banned?

The current list of prohibited substances is published in the Official State Gazette (BOE) by Resolution of the President of the Higher Sports Council in January of each year. This list is accessible from the homepage by clicking on RFEG (horizontal menu) and then on "Anti-Doping." Once there, it is located under the "Downloads" section.

It is necessary to know the active ingredient of the medication in question in order to perform the search in the document.

Also, as a general and additional rule, the package leaflet of said medication should be read in detail to check if the substance is prohibited.
