Germán Gutiérrez, leader after the first day

The first day of the 4th National Pitch & Putt Qualifying Tournament 2023, which began at the Severiano Ballesteros Lavin La Junquera course with the participation of fifty golfers, concluded with Germán Gutiérrez himself in first position.

The player from Torrelavega carded rounds of 47 and 49 strokes in each of the two rounds that traditionally make up the first day. The first result gave him the lead in the tournament, and the second only served to confirm and increase it, as he went from an initial advantage of three strokes to six.

The players best positioned to prevent the tournament from ending in the hands of the golfer from Torrelavega were Marco Reina, second at six strokes, and Rafael Santonja, third at eight, in addition to a trio made up of Sergio Alonso, Noel Calzadilla and Rafael Cruz, with nine strokes more.

Finally, in this type of tournament, achieving the always impressive holes-in-one is quite common. On this occasion, the players who holed out in a single stroke were César Crespo, on the 8th hole during the second round; Juan Antonio Cubas, on the 2nd hole, also on the second round; and José López, on the 11th hole, during the third round.
