The Golf & Health Project website, promoted by the World Golf Foundation, has released an infographic based on a study presented by the University of Edinburgh (Scotland) that aims to highlight the health benefits of playing golf. The infographic emphasizes the dangers of a sedentary lifestyle and states that participants in a round of golf can take more than 11,000 steps.
This infographic highlights data such as the fact that physical inactivity can cause more deaths than tobacco use, and points to sports, in this case golf, as an ideal remedy against this scourge. The data is based on studies conducted during two tournaments: the 2016 Paul Lawrie Match Play and the 2017 Shenzhen Open.
The University of Edinburgh's 'Golf & Health Project' was conducted under the supervision of leading international academics, including Professor Nanette Mutrie and Liz Grant, and is considered the most comprehensive study on golf and health. The 5,000-page study details the impact of the game on health and its role in disease prevention and injury management.
