The 36th PGA of Spain Championship has a new winner. Catalan Emilio Cuartero Blanco carded a spectacular final round of 65 (-7) to finish with a total of -12, clinching the title at New Sierra Golf after a thrilling and high-level final day.
The player from Lleida showed his best form from the very first hole, attacking every pin and taking advantage of the lack of wind for most of the day, which allowed him to make birdies on almost every hole. Only in the final stages did the wind make an appearance, adding an extra challenge to the decisive holes.
“I felt very comfortable from the start today. I knew I had to go all out if I wanted to come back, and I was very precise with my putter. New Sierra Golf offered us a spectacular course and greens in perfect condition for competition,” commented Cuartero, visibly moved upon receiving the trophy.
Fight until the last hole
Behind them, Daniel Berná, at -11, kept pace until the end and finished just one stroke behind the champion. In third place, also at -11, were José Luis Adarraga, Joseba Torres Olazábal, and David Borda, who came into the tournament as the leader after the second round but couldn't hold off Cuartero's charge in the final holes.
Javier Sainz Delgado completed the Top 5 with -10, retaining the lead in the Order of Merit of the II TUMI Spain Golf Tour 2025.
