Costa del Sol Tourism has released a video in which golfer Azahara Muñoz, from Malaga, tells us that the Solheim Cup is her "dream come true." The video, which shows Azahara Muñoz at various locations along the Costa del Sol, such as Malaga Airport and the beach, takes an emotional journey through her dreams from childhood to the present day, when her dream has been fulfilled with the Solheim Cup being held in her home region.

Azahara Muñoz from Malaga tells us about the Solheim Cup 2023, an international team competition that will bring together Europe and the United States on Spanish soil for the first time in the tournament's history from September 18 to 24, 2023 at Finca Cortesín.

“Your dreams grow with you, they accompany you from birth, they are part of you,” Azahara Muñoz begins the video where, sitting on a bench at Malaga Costa del Sol airport, she recalls “each of the times I have taken off from this airport in search of dreams.”.

Azahara Muñoz has been dreaming and inspiring golf fans since a very young age. The player from San Pedro de Alcántara enjoyed a highly decorated amateur career on both sides of the Atlantic, becoming an NCAA individual champion (the American university league) and winning the British Ladies Amateur, the most prestigious competition in that category, among many other triumphs.

Already in the professional field, Azahara Muñoz has achieved six victories in the main international circuits (LPGA Tour and LET) and has become an indispensable pillar in the European team of the Solheim Cup, whose colors she has defended on four occasions (with three European victories).

The golfer from Malaga affirms that “the road hasn’t always been easy. It’s hard to know if you’re the one chasing your dreams or if they’re chasing you.” Strolling along the beaches of Malaga, she sends a positive message because, as she says, “one day you come home and discover that your dreams have landed with you. The countdown has already begun. Let’s live the dream.”.

With this video, Turismo Costa del Sol wanted to show, with the help of the golfer from Malaga, how important it is for the destination to host the celebration of such a prestigious event as the Solheim Cup 2023.

The Costa del Sol is ready to host this event, and all sectors involved are working on this shared dream that benefits not only the women's golf sector, but the entire golf world, all athletes, and the tourism and business sectors, who see the Costa del Sol brand once again taking center stage and achieving great international exposure.

The 2023 Solheim Cup, an event of exceptional public interest whose official venue is Finca Cortesín, is sponsored by PING, Turismo Costa del Sol and Rolex as global partners; and by the Junta de Andalucía, Acosol, the Marbella City Council and the Benahavís City Council as official partners.
