3. Protection of navigation

When connecting to the Internet, in addition to taking care of basic computer security measures, the following precautions should be considered:

3. b) Protection against viruses

Viruses are programs that install themselves on a computer, usually without the owner's knowledge, with the intention of harming the user's computer (for example, destroying files or the hard drive, spreading to other computers, or causing the computer to malfunction). To prevent possible virus infections, it is advisable to:

• You must have up-to-date antivirus software, so you should consult the program manufacturer's instructions to keep automatic updates active.
• Scan documents received electronically or from external sources such as portable devices with antivirus software.
• Install programs from secure sources that do not infringe intellectual property rights.
• It is advisable to install anti-spyware software to prevent spyware. It is also recommended to configure a spam filter to limit the sending of unwanted bulk emails.

Having an antivirus program does not guarantee total protection of the user's computer, mainly due to two reasons: that the virus is so new that it is detected by the program's virus library, or that a "false positive" occurs, that is, that a program has sequences in its programming code that resemble a virus.

6th Minors
