Functions

The functions of a Spanish sports federation are divided into two main blocks according to Law 39/2022, of December 30, on Sport: the delegated public functions (under the supervision of the Higher Sports Council) and the private functions of its own.

1. Delegated public functions (Article 50).
These tasks are carried out in the exercise of public powers delegated by the State:

• Qualification and organization: Qualify and organize official state-level activities and competitions.
• National teams: Selecting athletes to join the Spanish national teams.
• Licenses: Issue sports licenses in accordance with the terms provided for in the law and the statutes.
• Sports discipline: To exercise sports disciplinary authority within the scope of its competencies.
• Control and prevention: Ensuring compliance with anti-doping rules, as well as preventing violence, racism, xenophobia and intolerance in sport.

2. Functions of a private nature (Article 51)
These activities correspond to their nature as private non-profit entities:

• International competitions: Organize or oversee official international competitions held in Spain.
• Association management: Managing your own assets, preparing budgets and managing financial resources.
• Promotion: To promote, develop and publicize its sport modality throughout the national territory.
• Training: Design and promote continuing education activities for technicians, judges and referees.

3. Functions specific to the Statutes (Article 6.2)
Specifically, the Royal Spanish Golf Federation performs the following functions:

• To organize or oversee competitions officers of a character international that are held within the territory of the State.
• Organize the official state-level sports activities and competitions.
• To recognize and organize unofficial activities and competitions involving athletes or teams from more than one Autonomous Community, setting their requirements.
• Promote the development of the sporting activity of Golf, Pitch & Putt and Adapted and Inclusive Golf, establishing measures to promote grassroots sport and talent.
• Design and implement the training plans for highly qualified, high-performing individuals.
• Collaborate with the General State Administration and the Autonomous Communities in the prevention and control of the use of prohibited substances and non-regulatory methods.
• Choosing the athletes who will make up the Spanish national teams.
• To exercise the disciplinary authority in accordance with Law 39/2022 on Sport and its implementing provisions.
• Develop sports training programs.
• Collaborate with Public Administrations in the development of public policies related to the purpose of the Federation.
• Promoting the environmental development of golf and economic sustainability of the facilities.
• To carry out any other activity that benefits its purposes and serves for the development of Golf, Pitch & Putt and Adapted and Inclusive Golf, in addition to others provided for in the legal system.
