Costa del Sol Tourism has released a new video supporting the 2023 Solheim Cup, in which Marbella golfer Noemí Jiménez says that Finca Cortesín means “family” to her and the 2023 Solheim Cup is “a dream.” In the video, Jiménez reminisces about her beginnings in golf, her career, and her dreams while walking some of the holes on the course that will host this major competition.

“From the moment I knew the Solheim Cup was being played at Finca, I see it in a whole new light. Every time I’m on the 18th hole, I can just picture all the spectators around me,” said Noemí Jiménez, who confessed, “I sometimes joke with my dad. Every time we come here and I play the 18th, I tell him to imagine this is about winning with Europe. It’s going to be incredible.”.
The Ladies European Tour player started playing when she was just 6 years old. With a mother who is a black belt in karate and a father who is a professional golfer, it was almost inevitable that she would dedicate herself to golf. “I remember that it was my father who got me into golf. I am who I am because of golf. I really carry that memory with me throughout my whole life,” Jiménez said.
“When I was 10 years old I thought I was a good player. I joined the national team at 14 and that's when I started to dream, I dreamed of going to the United States, I dreamed of winning tournaments and when I was in the US, at university, I wanted to become a professional player, it was really then that I thought I could be good at that sport,” the Marbella player recalled.
During the video, Noemí Jiménez also speaks about her admiration for her teammate Azahara Muñoz, a great golfer and a role model for her. “Azahara was definitely a role model for me from the beginning. And for me, it was a dream come true to go to the same university as her. And I always followed how she was playing, how she went to the same university I wanted to go to, how she became a professional, and how she is succeeding right now,” she said.
Another important aspect that Noemí highlighted in the video is her connection with Finca Cortesín, for which she is an ambassador, and which has been chosen as the course for the celebration of this international team competition that will bring together Europe and the United States on Spanish soil for the first time in the tournament's history from September 18 to 24, 2023.
“I didn’t know the Solheim Cup would be played at Finca Cortesín. So when the news broke, I was surprised and very excited. I know this is a great golf course and a great venue for such a big event as the Solheim Cup. I’ve been an ambassador for Finca Cortesín for six years, and it will be a dream come true to be on the European team and play for Europe, especially with Finca, which was my first sponsor when I turned professional,” said Jiménez.
For the player from Malaga, another big dream would be to play the Solheim Cup with Azahara Muñoz and Laura Gómez. “Playing the Solheim together with Azahara and Laura would be incredible, especially because we know each other very well and having them on the team would be fantastic. And hopefully, this will happen in 2023.”.
On the other hand, Noemí Jiménez has stated that the Costa del Sol is unlike any place she has ever been. “I’ve traveled a lot to different places, and there’s nothing like the Costa del Sol. When people come to the Costa del Sol for the Solheim Cup, they’re going to enjoy so many things, like the food, the people, the atmosphere, the weather, the mountains and the sea, and the beautiful surrounding landscapes. I think it’s the perfect place to live and the perfect place to visit. And once you’ve been, you’ll want to stay forever. I’m pretty sure of that,” the Marbella native concluded.
