. Eleven of the top twenty players in the European Professional Ranking are present on the Malaga course.
. Also mentioned are three winners of tournaments on the Ladies European Tour this season – in addition to five who have already won the Spanish Open – and golfers with spectacular track records.
. Marta Figueras-Dotti, chosen as vice-captain of the European team for the 2017 Solheim Cup, cheered on by the Spanish golfers
Aloha Golf, the venue for the Andalucía Costa del Sol Open de España Femenino, has already become a hive of excitement ahead of the imminent start of this tournament, part of the Ladies European Tour, which will take place between September 22nd and 25th with the participation of a true constellation of stars vying for one of the most open and hard-fought titles in history.
The golfers present on the beautiful Malaga course glance at each other in search of the next winner, an extremely complicated exercise, resolved with a coincidental phrase – “anyone can win” – and with the added incentive of giving a Spanish victory to this prestigious and recognized competition for the first time in history.
No less than eleven of the top twenty players in the European Professional Ranking share, along with many others, the goal of lifting the winner's trophy, a very difficult challenge given the quality and quantity of the contenders present at Aloha Golf.
Beth Allen, French, Danish and English women as an example of golf torrents
Special mention goes to the six golfers who, by fine-tuning their skills even further, are currently perched among the top ten in the LET Ranking, such as the American Beth Allen, with an impressive professional career behind her, number 2 in the Ranking, only surpassed at present by the Chinese Shanshan Feng, bronze medalist in the past Olympic Games of Rio de Janeiro 2016.
Veteran Beth Allen is a role model for young players eager to build a successful career, such as the French player Isabelle Boineu or the Danish player Nanna Koerstz Madsen, numbers 4 and 5 in the Ranking, both with a victory this season in the LET, specifically in the Ladies Scottish Open and the Tipspot Golf Masters, respectively.
Five other players, ranked 7th to 11th in the European Ranking, are also vying for victory at Aloha Golf, all of whom have outstanding professional experience, including numerous victories throughout their careers.
They are, in order of Ranking, the Swede Camilla Lennarth (number 7), the Dane Emily Kristine Pedersen (8), the Englishwomen Florentyna Parker (9) and Charley Hull (10) and the Spaniard Nuria Iturrios, all of them true torrents of golf who, in the case of the Balearic golfer, arrives in Malaga with a victory this year in Morocco in her belt of successes.
The allure also lies with the five players who have already won the Spanish Women's Open and are aiming to repeat their success, a feat that, incidentally, hasn't been achieved this century. These include South African Connie Chen – the reigning champion –, English players Becky Brewerton, Laura Davies, and Melissa Reid, and Australian Stacey Keating.
And as a quality addition, of course, the presence of the seventeen Spanish women, led by local star Azahara Muñoz, all of them focused on ending the adverse trend that has so far prevented any golfer from our country from appearing as a winner in the competition's record books, a spirited group that took advantage of the ProAm day to cheer on Marta Figueras-Dotti, recently elected vice-captain of the European team in the 2017 Solheim Cup.
