In anticipation of the upcoming implementation of the World Handicap System in Spain, the Royal Spanish Golf Federation, the Regional Federations and all Spanish golf institutions have developed a COVID-19 Competition Protocol, complementary to the Opening of the Sport of Golf Protocol, which establishes guidelines and recommendations for the organization of social events and competitions when the state, regional and/or local health and sports authorities allow it depending on the evolution of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Once that authorization is established, the application of this Protocol, together with the Local Covid-19 Rules, allows competitions to be held in compliance with the Rules of Golf and the guidelines and recommendations issued by The R&A for the duration of the COVID-19 crisis, and may be subject to modification if circumstances so advise.
Each Competition Committee must adapt the applicable measures to the characteristics of each competition and golf course, always in accordance with any other guidelines imposed by the health and sports authorities.
Competition Committees responsible for the development of competitions are reminded that, for the correct application of the system and for the rounds to be considered valid, whether from competitions or from non-competitive results, they must be played on a course that meets the appropriate conditions and in accordance with the Rules of Golf, including the guidelines and recommendations included in this protocol and the Local Covid-19 Rules.
It is also reminded that players must be in possession of a valid RFEG license.
