American Patrick Reed is another of the great endorsements of this edition of the Open de España presented by Madrid, who graces with his presence a competition that will take place at the Club de Campo Villa de Madrid between October 9 and 12.
Apart from Jon Rahm and Sergio Garcia, the American golfer is part of the constellation of stars that gives objective interest to this centennial tournament, backed in his case by nine victories on the American Circuit and, above all, by the triumph in the 2018 Masters at Augusta, when he immediately garnered the consideration of one of the best golfers in the world.
Much more recently in his close and fruitful relationship with the Masters at Augusta, Patrick Reed finished in third position in this recent 2025 edition shortly before finishing second this same year in the International Series Macau of the Asian Tour, once again demonstrating the high quality of his game, regardless of his current position number 73 in the world ranking.
On a much closer note, the American player finished in tenth position in the previous edition of this Spanish Open, with two intermediate rounds of 66 and 68 that caused a sensation.
A big fan of American football, a supporter of the Houston Texans and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, one of Patrick Reed's favorite phrases, coined by his wife Justine, is: "nerves just mean you're prepared.".
At 35 years old, a professional since 2011, Patrick Reed's sporting resume includes nine PGA Tour victories, a string of successes that began to take shape in 2013 when he won the Wyndham Championship, the starting point for other victories that contributed to him gradually acquiring the status of a benchmark on the American Circuit: Desert Classic 2014, WGC – Cadillac Championship 2014, Tournament of Champions 2015, The Northern Trust 2016…
Two years later, Patrick Reed truly rose to prominence in the professional arena by winning the 2018 Masters at Augusta by one stroke over Rickie Fowler, a tournament in which Jon Rahm finished fourth.
The quality of the Texan golfer continued to be evident after this great feat, also adding to his sporting record the Northern Trust 2019 again and, also for the second time, the WGC – Cadillac Championship 2020, a tournament considered a 'major' which was followed by the Farmers Insurance Open 2021.
Tickets for the Open de España presented by Madrid are now available on the tournament's official website.
