The Panorámica Golf course (Sant Jordi, Castellón) is hosting the 2026 Spanish Men's Second Category Championship this weekend, an event that brings together 120 golfers vying for a prestigious national title. Once again, this tournament promises excitement, spectacle, and a touch of uncertainty, making it one of the most anticipated events on the calendar.
It is the consequence of a tournament that attracts the attention of many golfers with a very similar playing handicap, which usually generates outcomes that were not foreseen in the previous script.
This time, one hundred and twenty players who meet the requirement of having a playing handicap of no less than 4.5 are meeting in Castellón. This condition means that, this time, twenty-seven participants are included within the handicap range between 4.5 and 5.0, a number that increases to forty-two if the limit is extended to 5.5.
These figures explain the equality of forces and the impossibility of making predictions, although it is necessary to mention the four golfers who arrive in Murcia with the minimum allowed handicap of 4.5: Rodrigo Cabañas, Felipe López, Alberto Lagos, Federico Tarazona and Rubén Gómez.
The competition system consists of three days of 18 holes under the Stroke Play format, establishing a cut at 60th place and ties at the end of the second round.
