▶And finally, the Pro Spain Program – initially called Neo Pro – became a reality in 2010. Its objective was none other than to help elite golfers in their early years as professionals, facilitating their transition from the amateur stage and enabling a faster entry into the major tours. A decade later, the program is stronger than ever.
▶That historic first batch was made up of Tania Elósegui, María Hernández, Jorge Campillo, Jordi García del Moral, Pedro Oriol, Moisés Cobo, Borja Etchart, Jesús Legarrea and Azahara Muñoz, who as can be seen in the photo, finished the course as Debutante of the Year in the LPGA.
▶The selected players received technical and financial assistance, committing, among other things, to dedicate several days to RFEG initiatives in support of Neo Pros (ProAms, training camps of amateur national teams,…).
▶The season concluded with Jorge Campillo and Azahara Muñoz being named Neo Pros of the Year and with a series of good results, among which María Hernández's victory in the Slovakia Open stood out.
▶In 2020, the Pro Spain Program, which collaborates with the Regional Federations, supported twenty-three players. Over the past ten years, the program has seen established names on the main professional circuits, such as Carlota Ciganda, Ignacio Elvira, Adrián Otaegui, and Adriá Arnaus, pass through its doors. The program continues to grow.
