The 2017 World Golf Awards gala, prestigious international awards popularly known as the Oscars of golf, recognized La Manga Club – which hosted the event – as the Best Golf Destination in Europe, an award that adds to others received in previous editions.

The exclusive Murcia resort received double recognition, as the Hotel Príncipe Felipe, located within its grounds, was selected as the Best Golf Hotel in Spain. Thus, the resort took home two of the five awards given to Spanish establishments at this fourth edition of the World Golf Awards.

From November 23rd to 26th, La Manga Club hosted a variety of activities, including golf tournaments, in which award winners and other prominent figures from the world of golf participated and enjoyed the resort's facilities. Visitors from over 40 countries across all continents took advantage of these celebratory days at La Manga Club, which also coincided with its 45th anniversary.

Among the authorities present at the World Golf Awards were the spokesperson for the Government of Murcia, Noelia Arroyo; the Director General of Tourism of the Tourism Institute of the Region of Murcia, Manuel Fernández-Delgado; the Councillor for Tourism of Cartagena, Obdulia Gómez; and the President of the Golf Federation of the Region of Murcia, José Jover.

Las Colinas, Best Golf Course in Spain

Meanwhile, at the gala, Las Colinas Golf & Country Club received the award recognizing it as the Best Golf Course in Spain for the third consecutive year. The Alicante course retained the prestigious title it won in the last two editions after surpassing a select group of top-level golf courses.

These prestigious awards, voted on by golfers from around the world, seek to develop, promote and support the global golf tourism industry by identifying and rewarding excellence in the best facilities.
