The Canary Islands junior player Lucía Cortezo has comfortably won the third edition of the Spanish Women's Individual Pitch & Putt Championship, which concluded at the Las Encinas de Boadilla course in Madrid with a successful performance and participation.
Lucía Cortezo, from the Real Club de Golf de Las Palmas, dominated the two days of the tournament, making the two best scores of the tournament -59 and 60, respectively-, and showing an excellent level of play that led her to be eleven strokes ahead of her closest pursuer, Isabel Alonso.
The golfer from Club de Campo Villa de Madrid accumulated a total of 130 strokes, improving on the performances of local players Milagros Perona, who was third, and Patricia Hernández, fourth in the final standings.
Therefore, Lucía Cortezo becomes the third winner of this Spanish Women's Individual Pitch & Putt Championship. In the inaugural 2005 edition, the victory went to María Eugenia Blanco from Madrid, while in 2006, the title was won by María Castillo Dologaray from the Canary Islands, who is also Lucía Cortezo's mother.
In total there were 60 participants in this competition – marked by good course and weather conditions – which gives a good indication of the boom that this golf specialty is experiencing in our country.
