The Spanish Association of Golf Courses (AECG), chaired by Claudia Hernández, has concluded the 2017 financial year with the incorporation of 36 new members, bringing the organization to one hundred courses.

The Board of Directors of the AECG is once again delighted with the great reception that the AECG initiative is receiving from all golf courses in Spain, with sustained growth since its creation.

As the president stated in July 2017, the month in which 15 new courses joined the organization, "in just two years we have been able to inspire almost 35% of the courses in this country, this represents a great advance for us that fills us with equal parts pride and responsibility.".

AECG MEETING – ROYAL SPANISH GOLF FEDERATION

Similarly, during its Board of Directors meeting at FITUR, the AECG met with the President of the Royal Spanish Golf Federation, Gonzaga Escauriaza, to discuss the future challenges facing the golf industry and establish avenues for collaboration. This meeting will lead to discussions on new areas of cooperation between the two organizations.

Currently, work is underway on various lines of work that were addressed directly with the Secretary of State for Tourism of the Ministry of Energy, Tourism and Digital Agenda of the Government of Spain, at the last meeting on October 31, 2017, such as:

Express request for the completion of an independent study on the Socio-Economic Impact of Golf Tourism by Autonomous Community on a biennial basis, which establishes a certain and compelling reality of its real weight at the national level, providing the sector with solid arguments to demystify clichés that stigmatize Golf in our country.

Meeting held with the Minister of Public Works, in which it was agreed to create a working committee between the General Secretariat of Infrastructure, the State Secretariat for Tourism and the Association itself to develop and facilitate the signage of access roads to golf courses in Spain.

Cohesion in the defense of Golf Tourism as a sustainable industry and generator of added value against false myths such as irresponsible use of water or an environmental impact, which are a limiting factor in the authorization of the use of phytosanitary products for the maintenance of golf courses in our country.
