Following the conclusion of the AIG Women's Open, the fifth Grand Slam of the season, the twelve players who will make up the European team for the 2026 Solheim Cup have been confirmed. Among them are Carlota Ciganda, who will be playing in the tournament for the eighth time, and Julia López from Malaga, who will be making her debut.

The eight golfers who qualified by Ranking were joined on Monday afternoon by the four choices of captain Anna Nordqvist: England's Mimi Rhodes, Ireland's Leona Maguire, France's Natasia Nadaud and Julia López, one of the sensations in recent months on the LPGA.

The Andalusian thus joins a select group that includes Raquel Carriedo, Paula Martí, Ana Belén Sánchez, Tania Elósegui, Azahara Muñoz, Carlota Ciganda and Beatriz Recari.

The eight players who have automatically qualified for the Bernardus Golf event (September 11-13) were announced earlier. One of them is Carlota Ciganda, who debuted in 2013 and has been a regular on the European team ever since. “I love the Solheim Cup. It’s my favorite event, and I’m looking forward to representing Europe again in front of our fans. It’s an honor to participate for the eighth time, and I’m excited to be in the Netherlands in September,” she said.

England's Charley Hull secured first place in the LET Solheim Cup points standings with 264.18 points after achieving two wins and five other top-10 finishes during the qualifying period. This is also Hull's eighth Solheim Cup victory.

Meanwhile, Germany's Esther Henseleit has secured second place in the rankings with 134 points after two excellent weeks. She finished fourth overall at the ISPS HANDA Women's Scottish Open and second at the AIG Women's Open, edging out Switzerland's Chiara Tamburrini by 0.9 points.

Six other players have qualified for the European team through the Rolex Women's World Golf Rankings, thus securing their place in Bernardus, with England's debutante Lottie Woad leading the way.

Swedish players Maja Stark and Linn Grant will participate in their third Solheim tournament, and French player Celine Boutier will play for the fifth time.

The last player to qualify through the Women's World Ranking was the Dane Nanna Koerstz Madsen, for which it will be her second participation after having been part of the winning team in 2021.
