Juan Postigo continues to build his legend, the one that recognizes him as the best Adapted Golf player in the history of our country. This Sunday, the Cantabrian became Spanish Champion for the seventh time, completing a thrilling comeback at La Valmuza Golf (Salamanca) against a tremendously competitive Santiago Hernández.

Hernández started the day with a fantastic first-round 73, a score that gave him a two-stroke lead over Postigo. But the Cantabrian golfer rediscovered his competitive edge, overtaking the Extremaduran by a single stroke. Postigo's 73 strokes compared to Hernández's 76 explain the turnaround in the standings.

Third place, twelve strokes behind the winner, went to Álvaro Luengo from Madrid, who doubled his scorecards to 80 strokes.

With this victory, Juan Postigo now has seven; his previous wins came in the 2014, 2015, 2016, 2018, 2022, and 2024 editions. Antonio Llerena from Valencia, with six victories, has shared the spotlight with the mountain man in recent years.

There was also a change in the standings at the Spanish Cup, this time in favor of María Teresa Fernández, who finished in second place. The Madrid native earned 35 points for a total of 73, two more than José Manuel Heras. Third place, with 68 points, went to Jacinto Carbajosa.

And regarding the Federation Cup, César Crespo (68) has completed his victory ahead of Felipe Antonio Herranz and Laura María Gallego, both with 64 points.

Two competitions, three winners

Yes, winners, plural, because for the sixth edition, three trophies have been awarded. As every year, the tournament was divided into two simultaneous competitions: the Spanish Adapted Golf Championship and the Spanish Cup. The first was played in Stroke Play format over 36 holes and was contested by players with a handicap up to 18.4 holding a Medical Pass, while the second was reserved for golfers with a handicap of 18.5 or higher (also holding a Medical Pass) and was played using the Stableford system, also over 36 holes.

Simultaneously, the Federation Cup has been played, created in 2019 and intended for those players with an exact handicap equal to or less than 28 and without a Medical Pass, but who can prove at least a 33% disability.

As in the previous thirteen editions, the event has been specifically sponsored by the RFEG Adapted Golf Committee to give more opportunities to access this sport to people with different disabilities.
