The Bokskogens Golf Club in Svedala, southern Sweden, will host the seventh edition of the European Individual Adapted Golf Championship from August 28th to 30th. Organized by the European Disabled Golf Association (EDGA) in collaboration with the European Golf Association (EGA), the event attracts the best European golfers, including seven Spaniards, with special mention for three-time winner Juan Postigo.

It is worth noting that the European champion will be the player with the lowest Stroke play Scratch score across the four categories, which are: A) Players with disabilities (Standing Championship), B) Wheelchair players (Seated Championship), C) Players with visual disabilities (Visual Championship) and D) Players with intellectual disabilities (Intellectual Championship).

Additionally, the top finishers in each category will receive a trophy.

The Spanish representatives in the event are Juan Postigo, Santiago Hernández, Francisco Centeno and Patricia Roldán in category A, Fernando Vega de Seoane and Sebastián Lorente in category B and Marc Oller in category C.

From a Spanish perspective, the lead-up is marked by the three consecutive titles won by Juan Postigo from Cantabria between 2016 and 2021. Having become a true icon of Spanish Adapted Golf, the Cantabrian aims to expand his enviable record in Sweden, which already boasts seven Spanish championship titles and a victory on the G4D Tour.

Juan Postigo has made history with his three titles

The tournament is held every two years and has featured Spanish players in 2012, 2014, 2016, 2018, 2021, and 2023. In 2016, Juan Postigo took advantage of the final round to close the gap with Frenchman Charles Quelin, tying with him at 215 strokes. In the playoff, the Spaniard proved more accurate and secured the title. That same year, Catalan Sebas Lorente excelled in the wheelchair category, finishing fourth with 286 strokes.

Two years later, in 2018, Juan Postigo dominated the competition from start to finish, accumulating a final advantage of five strokes over the Swedes Johan Kamerstadd and Rasmus Lia.

In 2021 came Juan Postigo's third consecutive victory, this time in Portugal, where he beat Charles Quelin by six strokes.

Additionally, in the tournament's inaugural edition in 2012, the Spanish delegation that traveled to Denmark finished with remarkable results. In Category A, Juan Postigo and Antonio Llerena shared sixth place with a total of 246 strokes, while Francisco Centeno and Felipe Antonio Herranz finished twelfth (252). There was also Spanish representation in Category B. Álvaro Luengo carded 270 strokes to achieve a highly commendable fourth place.
