The Spanish Senior Men's Pitch & Putt Championship has concluded at the Aldeamayor course in Valladolid with Javier Niederleytner's victory after defeating José Miguel Velasco in an exciting playoff.

The second and final day of the tournament began with Javier Niederleytner at the top of the leaderboard with a five-stroke lead, a margin that could be enough... or not, as could be seen later.

Javier Niederleytner's 54 strokes compared to José Miguel Velasco's 49 in this last round meant that both players finished with a total of 154 strokes, and therefore a tiebreaker had to be played to decide the winner of the event.

Ángel Ríos completed the podium of this Spanish Senior Men's Pitch & Putt Championship, with a total of 160 strokes.

Javier Niederleytner, the rival to beat

After the two usual rounds of the first day were played, Javier Niederleytner signed two cards of 50 strokes, for a total of 100 strokes, which gave him an important advantage of five strokes over José Miguel Velasco and Pablo César Gómez, players who shared second place with a total of 105 strokes.

Once again, Bodegas Habla is sponsoring the competition, awarding a valuable Magnum to the players who have managed to make a hole-in-one in the two days.

A list of winners dominated by five golfers

Five golfers stand out at first glance at the competition's list of winners, which until 2022 included male and female categories: Pía Allende and Laura Batista, winners on three occasions, and Alejandro Muñoz, and Rafael Santonja and Juan Fernández-Ardavín, winners twice.

Focusing on the men's competition, the first winner, in 2009, was Alejandro Muñoz, who repeated his victory just one year later. Subsequent wins came from Juan Ortín, José López, Antonio Fernández, José Ángel Pérez, Francisco José Cisneros, Ángel Ríos, Rafael Santonja, Juan Fernández-Ardavín (both on two occasions), Fernando Cabezudo, Rafael Canomanuel, and Marcos Gómez.
