The England International Under 16 and Under 14 Girls' Championship, held at London's Old Fold Manor Golf Club, concluded unexpectedly when the final day was suspended due to bad weather and the competition was ended with nine holes played in the final round.

Despite this, the two Spanish women who were best placed at the start of the day managed to improve their rankings, as Aroa González gained three positions to enter the Top 10, specifically, in ninth place in the Under 16 category, and Izíar Rodríguez climbed two places and finished fourth in the Under 14 category, just missing the podium finish she achieved in last year's edition.

The tournament saw local victories in both categories: Serafima Taylor won in Under 16 and Hanna Nordlund in Under 14. As for the Spanish representation, the large group that made it through in the Under 16 category consisted of Isabel Ping (12th), Blanca Gómez-Balboa (14th), Cristina García (15th), Marta Muñoz (18th), Carlota López (24th), Carmen García (31st) and Rut Díaz (35th); while in the Under 14 category, Cornelia Bermudo and Aurora Venneri also played in the final round and finished in 20th and 21st place respectively.

On the first day, Icíar Rodríguez and Isabel Ping set the pace for the Spanish team, both carding 73s (-1), although they didn't achieve the same positions in the overall standings. The Canary Islander finished twelfth in the Under-16 category, five strokes behind the leader, England's Lauren Crump, while the Madrid native placed fourth in the Under-14 category, four strokes behind England's Mila Dodds.

The second day brought some ups and downs. In the Under 16 category, the best position was achieved by Aroa González after a card of 73 strokes (-1) and a total of 147 strokes (-1) that took her to twelfth position, one place ahead of Isabel Ping, who lost one place and was placed thirteenth although with the same total strokes as her teammate.

As for the lead in this event, it passed to the Englishwoman Serafima Taylor, after a card of 68 strokes (-6) and a total of 139 strokes (-9).

As for the Under 14 category, Icíar Rodríguez continued to be the best positioned despite falling two places to sixth position by signing a card of 76 strokes (+2) and a total of 149 strokes (+1).

There were also changes at the top of this tournament, and it was the French pair Anouchka Djumic and Jurilayci Kardasik who took first place with a total of 144 strokes (-4).

Adriana García Terol, Spain's latest triumph

The triumph of Barcelona native Adriana García Terol in 2023 represents the last Spanish victory in the tournament, although it should be noted that Icíar Rodríguez has been very close to repeating the third place achieved in the 2024 edition in a category, the Under 14, which in 2019 had Cayetana Fernández as the main protagonist.
