Eugenio López-Chacarra (-11 overall) secured his second victory on the DP World Tour this Sunday. He did so in a historic tournament on the circuit, the KLM Open, where previous winners included Sergio García, Pablo Larrazábal, Chema Olazábal, and Severiano Ballesteros.
The Madrid native, very solid in the first two days with rounds of 69 strokes, unleashed his full potential in the third with a spectacular 65 in which he easily made birdies; he notched eight. That result propelled him into a tie for the lead.
On Sunday, in a tense day with many golfers within striking distance of the lead, Eugenio López-Chacarra delivered a hard-fought 70 crowned with a decisive birdie on the 18th. The euphoric and overflowing celebration was more than justified, as the Finn Oliver Lindell (-10) was waiting to go into a playoff.
In addition, it is worth mentioning the third place of Ángel Ayora (-8), who has recovered perfectly from a discreet start (73).
This was Eugenio López-Chacarra's second victory on the DP World Tour, following his win at the 2025 Hero Indian Open. He had previously won on the LIV Golf Tour (Bangkok, 2022) and the Asian Tour (Saint Andrews Bay Championship, 2023).
Good result for Spain in the Alps Tour
There have also been good results for Spanish players at the Open de la Mirabelle d'Or, where Gonzalo Leal (T6, -7) and Pablo Alperi (T9, -6) have found a place in the Top 10.
Also worth mentioning is Javier Calles' eighteenth place in the Swiss Challenge, part of the HotelPlanner Tour; Elena Melich's twenty-fourth place (+1) in the Arkea Montauban Ladies Open, part of the LET Access Series; and, of course, Julia López's cut in the US Women's Open, the second major of the season held at Riviera Country Club (California).
Carlota Ciganda, Carla Bernat and the amateurs Paula Martín and Paula Francisco were left out of the cut.
