The 2025 Spanish Interclub Men's Championship is being held this week, from September 25th to 28th, at the Real Club de Golf de Castiello (Bernueces, Asturias), one of the most active clubs in recent editions. Sixteen teams are competing in this event, where the four representing Real Club de Golf El Prat are defending their title.

The Barcelona team (cumulative handicap -16.3) has another opportunity to continue making history in the tournament, where they are the most successful club, with Marcel Fonseca and Xavi Yagüe returning after their victory in the 2024 final against Castiello's team. The Asturian team (-7.3), led by Pablo Alperi, is considered one of the main contenders for the title.

At this same level, we must place the Guadalhorce team (-7.9), who have recruited Gonzalo Gancedo and Fernando Moreno, two promising players. Sant Cugat (-7.3), Cerdeña (-6.3), RCG Las Palmas (-6.2), Alenda (-4.5), and CC Villa de Madrid (-3.6) also have ample reason to be in Sunday's final. Players like Nicolás Vidal and Raúl Gómez have a lot to say about this.

The other participating teams are the representatives of Los Lagos (-2.3), La Herrería (-1.7), Puerta de Hierro (-1.7), Vallromanes (-1.6), Terramar (-1), Sotogrande (0.2) and La Barganiza (0.4).

The qualifying round, crucial in the outcome of the tournament

The sixteen participating teams, made up of four players, will play a first day under the stroke play format of vital importance since it will determine, taking into account only the three best scores, the subsequent eliminations in the fight for the title.

The top eight finishers after completing the first 18 holes will compete for the title, while the rest will have to settle for fighting for the best possible position between 9th and 16th.

In the following two days of competition, under the 'match play' format, two players from each team play individual matches, while the other two, chosen by the captain of each club, face each other in 'foursomes' matches.
