The winner of the Spanish Open presented by Madrid has once again received invitations to compete in the Masters Tournament and the British Open.

The Spanish Open is held at the CC Villa de Madrid from October 8th to 11th

For the second year in a row, the winner of the Open de España presented by Madrid, which takes place at the Club de Campo Villa de Madrid between October 8 and 11, will receive an invitation to compete in the Masters Tournament and the British Open, a privilege obtained after the agreement promoted by Augusta National Golf Club and R&A.

This decision, which also extends to the winners of other national Opens of enormous tradition and prestige, has the objective of providing both the Masters at Augusta and the British Open with the presence of renowned international golfers who will further increase the aura of mystique that surrounds these two 'Majors', undisputed benchmarks within the world of golf.

The initiative significantly increases the already high level of interest in the Open de España presented by Madrid, contributing in the short, medium and long term to an increasingly prestigious and high-quality roster of players.

Both Augusta National Golf Club and the R&A have positively assessed the agreement based on the experience accumulated by both organizations in establishing qualification mechanisms parallel to the World Ranking, guaranteeing in both cases accredited access routes that further raise the quality of both tournaments to increase the solidity of elite professional golf.

The British Open Qualifying Series has been in operation since 2013 and offers players access to The Open through prestigious events. Specifically, golfers can now qualify for the 155th British Open through 19 events held in 15 different countries.

Mark Darbon, Chief Executive of The R&A, said, “Each year, The Open brings together the world’s best golfers to compete in this tournament through the various global entry pathways we offer. The National Opens have a rich history in the sport, and their inclusion in the Open Qualifying Series reinforces The Open’s tradition as a competition open to the best players from around the globe. Furthermore, partnering with Augusta National Golf Club allows us to maintain a shared commitment to creating opportunities for players from across the world to achieve their goal of competing in The Open and the Masters.“.
