Galician player Rubén Anllo has won the third edition of the Spanish Men's Individual Pitch & Putt Championship, a golf specialty that is experiencing a significant boom in our country, after making a final round of 55 strokes on the Cantabrian course of Ramón Sota.

The golfer from the Lugo Golf Club overcame the disadvantage stroke he was carrying over from the first leaders of the tournament, the Galician Juan Carlos Iglesias and the Cordoban Andrés Pastor, to win convincingly on the second and final day.

Not surprisingly, the new champion beat his closest pursuers in the final standings by four strokes: Álvaro Fernández Ochoa from Cantabria, Jorge Montesdeoca from the Canary Islands, and Juan Carlos Iglesias himself.

Thus, Rubén Anllo succeeds Alejandro García from Murcia, winner of the event held a year ago in Torrepacheco and absent this time, and José Jorge Rodríguez Sarmiento from Galicia, winner of the first edition and without luck in Ramón Sota.

Despite the difficulties created by the rains that fell in recent days in Cantabria, the tournament – which was sponsored by Deportes Moya and Viajes Touralp – has clearly demonstrated the growing level, both in terms of participation and technical skill, of this increasingly widespread golf discipline in Spain.
