The Spanish team was once again one of the cornerstones of the winning squad. Cayetana Fernández, Paula Francisco, and Paula Martín delivered outstanding performances throughout the three days of competition, contributing crucial points in both the doubles and decisive individual matches.
The most outstanding performance came from Cayetana Fernández, who completed an extraordinary tournament and finished undefeated (three wins and one draw). The Madrid native opened the championship by winning her fourball match, shone in the foursomes alongside Marta Silchenko with a resounding 5/4 victory, added another win in the mixed foursomes partnering with Harry Takis, and, in the singles, drew her match against Meja Ortengren Weed, a half-point that proved decisive in securing the international title.
Paula Francisco also made her mark, contributing a victory on the first day and another in the mixed foursomes, in addition to tying her individual duel against Kylie Chong, adding another half point of enormous value.
Paula Martín, for her part, once again demonstrated her competitiveness in one of the major events on the international university golf calendar. The Madrid native, who was again competing in the Palmer Cup with the International Team, also achieved a tie in her individual match.
The finale was thrilling after neither team managed to establish a significant lead. Following a 6-6 draw on the opening day, the International Team took a narrow advantage on Saturday (18.5-17.5) and managed it well in the singles matches to secure a hard-fought 30.5-29.5 victory.
With this victory, the International Team confirms its excellent form in the Palmer Cup and once again has a decisive Spanish contribution, led by a brilliant Cayetana Fernández and supported by the solid performance of Paula Francisco and Paula Martín Sampedro, three players who once again placed Spanish golf among the great protagonists of the tournament.
