The Pitch & Putt Committee of the Royal Spanish Golf Federation, created at the end of 2004 with the aim of recognizing and providing appropriate regulatory, technical and sporting frameworks to this form of playing golf, which is increasingly accepted among fans, has prepared the calendar of national Pitch & Putt competitions for the year 2005.

This initiative by the RFEG Pitch & Putt Committee responds to the rise of this way of playing golf, which is helping to attract the attention of hundreds of new fans whose first contacts with this sport take place in facilities characterized by the short length of their holes and where the short game reaches its maximum expression.

With its courses made up of par 3 holes of varying difficulty – in some cases quite challenging –, at Pitch & Putt there is the possibility of teeing off from an artificial surface and a limited number of clubs can be used.

All of them newly created, this will therefore be the first edition of the various Spanish Pitch & Putt Championships, which have enjoyed the enthusiastic collaboration of the clubs. The first event will take place at the end of June (25th and 26th) at the Río Cabe golf course in Lugo, where the Spanish Men's Individual Pitch & Putt Championship will be held.

The women's category will take place in Golf Park (Madrid) in early October, while in mid-November the focus will be on Marbella, where the Spanish Senior Individual and Pairs Championships, both in the men's and women's categories, will be held at La Siesta and Green Life.

A mixed category has even been scheduled, to be played at the Cortijo Golf Center on the island of Gran Canaria in early December. In all cases, the format includes 18 holes per day over the two days of competition.

Also under study, for 2006, is the inclusion of a greater number of categories (junior, children, etc.) in the national Pitch & Putt competition calendar, as well as the development of Rankings that will constitute the benchmark for the selection of the members of the national teams that will compete in future international competitions, all of which are the responsibility of the Royal Spanish Golf Federation in accordance with article 6 of the Statutes of this federative body.
