Mataleñas Golf Club has become the team with the most wins in the Spanish Interclub Pitch & Putt Championship in the tournament's nine-year history. This Sunday, they secured their third victory—all three in the last four years—on their home course.
And they did so with remarkable ease, riding the same quartet that won last year: Carlos de Diego, Raúl Toca, Felipe Gómez, and Jaime Herrera. After dominating the first day, the Cantabrians were also the best in the individual competitions, with a total of 157 strokes for the day.
That score, added to the 201 from the first day, brought the winning result to 358. Mataleñas finished nineteen strokes ahead of the team representing Real Golf de Pedreña, who were unable to close the gap on the individual leaderboard.
The third place went to the Aldeamayor Golf Club team, who maintained an intense duel with the golfers from La Cuesta, fourth with two more strokes than the Valladolid team.
The Mataleñas team has led the competition clearly since the first day, after which they were eleven strokes ahead of Pedreña. In third place, seventeen strokes behind the leader, was the Aldemayor CG quartet.
The teams representing Mataleñas (accumulated handicap -0.3), Las Palmeras (11.9), CC Villa de Madrid (13.4), RCC Córdoba (14.9), La Cuesta de Llanes (16.4), Guadalajara (21.2), Deva Golf (28.2), La Junquera (36.8), Abra del Pas (43.2), Club Deportivo 5y3 (49.6) and Santa Marina (56.5) participated in the event this weekend.
