The Barcelona Golf Club hosted a two-day Course Rating Calibration Seminar organized by the RFEG (Royal Spanish Golf Federation) with the main objective of standardizing the criteria of the different RFEG raters and offering the possibility of discussing them with other raters from other areas of Spain and comparing them with the Master Raters.

Since 2001, the Courses and Handicaps Committee of the Royal Spanish Golf Federation has been organizing this type of seminar on an annual basis.

The seminar structure is the same as that used by the USGA to communicate system updates to its various member federations. Thus, the first part presents theoretical recommendations and guidelines for evaluating a field.

The second part consists of distributing the evaluators into teams to carry out the practical evaluation of some holes of the course, to conclude the Seminar by analyzing the results obtained by the different teams and checking their affinity with the system.

This year 2017 the Course Valuation Seminar was attended by 21 valuers and, as a novelty, by 2 valuers from Morocco as the start of the collaboration agreement between the RFEG and the Royal Moroccan Golf Federation.
