The Spanish Men's Pitch & Putt Championship celebrates its 21st edition this weekend, March 7th and 8th, at Las Palmeras Golf (Las Palmas de Gran Canaria), one of Spain's leading courses for this discipline. César Crespo, last year's winner, leads a list of 90 participants.

The golfer from the Canary Islands is one of the qualified local contenders hoping to add one of the most coveted titles to his record. Other winners, such as Prakash Aisa (2022 and 2024), Bernabé González (2017 and 2023), José Ángel Pérez (2008 and 2021), and Carlos Vega (2019), also aspire to do so. Many champions, therefore, intend to reclaim the crown.

Among the list of contenders to have their name inscribed for the first time in the record books of the event, the name of José María Ortiz de Pinedo from Valladolid stands out, winner of two national qualifying tournaments in 2025 and one of the most outstanding players for his consistency in recent seasons.

This competition is played over 54 holes in Scratch Stroke Play format over two consecutive days: 36 holes on the first day and 18 on the second. Bodegas Habla, the tournament sponsor, will award one of its prized Magnum wines to the golfers who achieve a hole-in-one during the competition.

Leonardo Axel Lilja, great dominator of the record

The tournament's record, currently comprising eighteen titles, is dominated by Leonardo Axel Lilja from Andalusia, who secured his third consecutive victory in 2015 at the Panorámica Golf Club (Castellón). This win put him ahead of another Andalusian golfer who, like Lilja, has also achieved significant results on the long course: Marcos Pastor from Córdoba, winner of the 2010 edition – in which he was also the Spanish National Champion and Pitch & Putt Champion – and the 2011 edition.

In recent years, 2021 has joined this exclusive group of repeat winners, achieving their second title: José Ángel Pérez, Bernabé González and Prakash Aisa.

First qualifying event for the National Ranking

The 2026 National Pitch & Putt Ranking consists of five events: the Spanish Individual Championships and the three Zonal Qualifying Tournaments. This is the first of them.

The Spanish Women's Championship will take place on October 24 and 25 at JAS Colmenar (Madrid), while the three Zonal Qualifying events will be held at the Bil Bil Golf (April 11-12), Sotoverde Golf (May 2-3) and Paderne Golf (June 13-14) courses.
