The V Bizkaia PGAe Open golf tournament, which counts towards the III TUMI Sport Golf Tour and will be held from June 19 to 21, has been officially presented at the Meaztegi public course in La Arboleda.

The presentation event was attended by Carlos Alzaga, Provincial Deputy for Infrastructure and Territorial Development; Ander Martínez, President of PGAe; Javier Saiz, President of the Basque Golf Federation; Isabel Lafita, Head of Communications for the dalecandELA Foundation; and Carlos Roca, Managing Director of Meaztegi Golf.

This tournament, which originated in 2022, has been promoted since its inception by the Provincial Council of Bizkaia and the Professional Golfers' Association (PGAe). Despite its youth, it is considered the Grand Slam of the national circuit due to the high level of participants, its financial endowment, and an organization that year after year dedicates itself to providing facilities and support to the professionals who participate.

More than one hundred golfers have already registered for this V Bizkaia PGAe Open and the final number is expected to exceed 140.

Among those registered, the presence of José María Olazábal stands out once again this year, winner of two Masters at Augusta, 23 European Tour titles, 4 PGA Tour titles and 4 editions of the Ryder Cup, a tournament in which he has been captain of the European team.

Also noteworthy is the participation of other European Tour winners such as Álvaro Quirós, Santiago Luna, José Manuel Lara and Carlos José Suneson.

Other important players who will be in Meaztegi are Carlos Balmaseda, Luis Claverie, Xavier Guzmán or José Manuel Ruiz.

Among the Basque golfers who have confirmed their participation are, among many others, Jesús María Arruti (winner of numerous PGA championships and other national circuit tournaments), Javier Sáinz (Spanish professional champion in 2024 and runner-up after a playoff in 2025) and Borja Martín (winner of the Bizkaia PGAe Open in 2023).

In addition to the professional tournament, the 5th Bizkaia PGAe Open includes other highlights such as a Pro-Am Tournament, one of the week's main attractions. Professional and amateur players will team up and enjoy a day of sport and camaraderie, all while supporting a charitable cause. Once again, the funds raised during this Pro-Am Tournament will be donated to the DalecandELA Foundation, an association that supports ALS patients and ALS research.

In addition, on Sunday the 21st, coinciding with the final day of the competition, a new edition of the children's Pro-Am will be held, organized in collaboration with the Jon Rahm 4 Kids foundation, which will have the participation of all the golf schools of Euskadi, as well as teams from Cantabria and Castilla-León and, as a novelty this year, boys and girls from two French golf schools will also participate.

This tournament is promoted by the Provincial Council of Bizkaia, Meaztegi Golf, and the PGA. Main sponsors: Inelco, Fermax, Game Telecomunicaciones, Grescrap, Basque Golf Federation, Bizkaia Golf Federation, Aelvasa, El Correo, Tele Bilbao, Pangea, Chef Lali, and the PGA Tour's main sponsor, TUMI.
