The Alps Tour season arrives in Spain for the first time this year with the Alps de Andalucía-Roquetas de Mar, taking place from June 11-13 at the Playa Serena Golf Club. The Almería event, the twelfth stop on the 2026 calendar, will bring together 144 players from at least 16 countries and will once again place Roquetas de Mar at the heart of international professional golf.
The tournament boasts one of the strongest fields of the season, with eight of the top ten players on the Alps Tour rankings participating. Among them are Frenchman Maxime Legros, second in the Order of Merit, Irishman Robert Moran, third, and Spaniards Pablo Alperi, Mario Galiano, and Gonzalo Leal, all ranked among the top ten players on the tour.
The only two absences from the top ten are those of Italian Andrea Romano, the reigning champion at Playa Serena, and Frenchman Maxime Legros, second in the Order of Merit, who will make their HotelPlanner Tour debuts at the Interwetten Open in Austria. The Italian player secured direct promotion to the second tier of European golf after achieving the three victories required for automatic promotion, a feat also accomplished last weekend by Frenchman Maxime Legros thanks to his win at the Open de la Mirabelle d'Or at Golf de La Grange aux Ormes in France.
The presence of many of the circuit's top players confirms the importance the Andalusian event has acquired within the Alps Tour calendar. Many of the professionals also face a crucial week in the fight for top positions in the Order of Merit as the season enters its decisive phase.
The Spanish team will consist of 70 players, 7 of them amateurs, and will be led by established names such as Mario Galiano, Pablo Alperi, Gonzalo Leal, Javier Calles, Álvaro Hernández Cabezuela, Jorge Maicas, Víctor García Broto, and Manuel Morugán. It will also feature highly experienced professionals like Alejandro Cañizares, Scott Fernández, and Emilio Cuartero, who will compete against some of the best players on the circuit.
Alongside the significant Spanish contingent, the tournament will feature a strong international presence, especially from France and Italy, two of the Alps Tour's powerhouses. Players from Ireland, England, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Germany, Austria, the Czech Republic, Argentina, the United States, Russia, Monaco, and other countries will also compete, reflecting the increasingly international nature of the circuit.
Playa Serena Golf Club is gearing up for another week of professional golf after establishing itself as a regular venue on the Alps Tour. The Almería course, known for its windy conditions, strategically demanding holes, and fast greens, will once again test a generation of players looking to follow in the footsteps of those who have used the tour as a springboard to the next level of European golf.
With top-level participation, a broad international representation and the presence of many of the contenders for the Order of Merit title, the Alps de Andalucía-Roquetas de Mar is preparing to become one of the highlights of the 2026 Alps Tour season.
Thanks to the support of the Royal Spanish Golf Federation, the Alps de Andalucía-Roquetas de Mar and the Alps de Las Castillas will increase their prize money by €5,000, reaching a minimum of €53,000. This boost reinforces the shared commitment between the Alps Tour, the Royal Spanish Golf Federation, and JGolf to continue supporting the development of young professionals and offering the best competitive conditions.
The Royal Spanish Golf Federation, the Royal Andalusian Golf Federation, the Roquetas de Mar City Council, the Regional Government of Andalusia, the Higher Sports Council, Kyocera, Bodegas Juan Gil and the Alps Tour are sponsors of this tournament, which is organized by JGolf.
