Captain Gwladys Nocera has announced the 12 players who will represent Europe at the PING Junior Solheim Cup (PJSC) 2023, which will take place in La Zagaleta, Spain, from September 18-19.

Following the conclusion of the R&A Girls' Amateur Championship, the final qualifying event for the PJSC, the presence of the six highest-ranked players on the team was confirmed.

Spain's Rocío Tejedo leads the rankings with 287.50 points and will play her first PING Junior Solheim Cup.

«"It's a dream come true and it's been my biggest goal this season," Tejedo said. "Being on the team with other Spanish players and other very good players from Europe will be incredible.".

«"It will also be great to experience the full week of the Solheim Cup and meet new friends from the US team PJSC. Overall, it will be an exciting experience and we will do everything we can to win.".

The Swedish duo, Nora Sundberg and Meja Örtengren, finished second and third in the rankings with 282.50 and 195.00 points respectively, and each will play in the competition for the second time after having been part of the winning European Team in Ohio in 2021.

German Helen Briem will also participate for the second time in a row, after finishing the qualifying phase in style by winning the R&A Girls' Amateur Championship at the weekend.

Briem explained: «Playing for PJSC is a unique experience. In 2021, I was quite young and everything was new, huge, and overwhelming. It was incredible. I’m really excited to be back with the more experienced squad this year. It’s going to be another amazing week.».

The last two automatic qualifiers were the Spaniard Andrea Revuelta and the Belgian Savannah De Bock, who were part of the winning team of the last edition.

Nocera, along with vice-captain Nora Angehrn, made six selections of captains in which the criteria used were the PJSC ranking along with the results of all amateur events, the European Ladies Amateur Golf Ranking and the input of the coaches of the European national teams.

Spain will have a total of four players on the team, with Cloe Amión and Anna Cañadó already selected directly.

Italian Francesca Fiorellini and Czech Denisa Vodickova will participate for the second time in the tournament, and they will be joined by Swiss Yana Beeli and Swedish Josefin Widal.

A total of seven players from the winning team in 2021, where Europe triumphed 13-11, are returning for the PING Junior Solheim 2023 and the whole team will be aiming to win two consecutive titles.

This will be the 12th edition of the PING Junior Solheim Cup, which has grown strongly since it began in 2002, and the first time it will be played in Spain.

With the support of PING and the Solheim family, the competition has become famous for showcasing the best junior players, who will go on to become world-class players.

Nocera commented: "Congratulations to all the players who are part of the 2023 PJSC European Team. It is an honor to lead such an experienced, strong, and diverse team.".

«"Some players won in 2021, which is invaluable experience, and the team will be represented by 6 nations, which shows how strong European golf is becoming. I can't wait to meet you all and prepare to fight for a second consecutive victory. Go Europe, go!".
