Twenty-two young golfers from the Junior (13-14 years) and Cadet (15-16 years) categories attended a Technical Concentration that took place on January 21 and 22 at the La Sella Denia Marriott Golf Resort course in Alicante.
This new training camp promoted by the Royal Spanish Golf Federation is part of the intense work program established in the last two months to check the progress of the best up-and-coming Spanish golfers, most of them with a brilliant track record that includes titles of champions or runners-up of Spain, apart from outstanding international triumphs, such as the case of Carlota Ciganda from Navarre –European Under 16 Champion in 2004 and 2005– or Marta Silva from A Coruña, winner of the Doral Publix Junior Classic in 2004.
This time, at La Sella Denia Marriott Golf Resort, all participants had the opportunity to improve their individual technique through a series of sessions led by Marta Figueras-Dotti, Kiko Luna, Macarena Tey, Fernando Núñez, and Tony Planells. In addition to various technical aspects—short game, long game, tee times, etc.—the golfers received instruction on the Rules of Golf.
The National Golf Centre in Madrid – twice – and the Escorpión Golf Club in Valencia have also served as venues for separate training camps involving a large group of promising young players.
The following players were called up:
