We hereby inform you that Royal Decree Law 10/2020, which regulates "a recoverable paid leave for workers in non-essential services," has just been published in the Official State Gazette (BOE).

The Spanish Association of Golf Courses, the Royal Spanish Golf Federation and the Spanish Association of Greenkeepers, with the advice of our legal departments and after numerous contacts with business institutions and local administrations with which we have consulted, understand that our sector can apply article 4 of the sole provision to maintain its facilities: “Companies that must apply the recoverable paid leave regulated in this article may, if necessary, establish the minimum number of staff or the work shifts strictly essential in order to maintain the indispensable activity.

Over the past few days, letters have been sent to the Government through its Ministries of Tourism, Trade, Health, and Agriculture, as well as to local and regional authorities throughout Spain. These letters convey our concerns about maintaining our fields in this dire situation, along with our requests for aid and support both for this maintenance and for restarting operations when it is possible to return to normal.

Most facilities maintain the course with already limited resources, but this does not prevent us from sending you a statement from the Spanish Greenkeepers Association on the minimum measures for turf maintenance, as well as a certificate template that you can use for workers to show to the competent authority when traveling to carry out their work.

The Spanish golf institutions work together for each and every course in our country; please accept our sincerest appreciation and support in this difficult situation.

Signed by Gonzaga Escauriaza, President of the RFEG; Ignacio Soto, President of the Spanish Association of Greenkeepers; and Claudia Hernández, President of the Spanish Association of Golf Courses.
