Three Spanish players - Carlota Ciganda, Beatriz Recari and Azahara Muñoz - will play in the 2013 Solheim Cup in two weeks, which will take place from August 16 to 18 at the Colorado Golf Club.
All three will earn their spots on merit, not at the behest of captain Liselotte Neumann. Carlota Ciganda will qualify thanks to her fantastic 2012 season in Europe, where she topped the Order of Merit; and Beatriz Recari and Azahara Muñoz will qualify based on their World Ranking, heavily influenced by their victories in the United States.
These three Spanish players will be joined in Colorado by Suzann Pettersen, Catriona Matthew and Caroline Masson, who enter through the European Ranking, Anna Nordqvist and Karine Icher, who enter through the World Ranking, and Charley Hull, Jodi Ewart, Caroline Hedwall and Giulia Sergas, who are the captain's choices.
On the other hand, the American team will consist of Stacy Lewis, Paula Creamer, Cristie Kerr, Angela Stanford, Brittany Lincicome, Lexi Thompson, Jessica Korda, Brittany Lang, Lizette Salas, Morgan Pressel, Gerina Piller and Michelle Wie.
