The inaugural National Pitch & Putt Qualifying Tournament, which opened the season for this golf discipline at Las Palmeras (Las Palmas de Gran Canaria), has crowned Carlos Vega as the winner. The Canary Islander, who began the final round two strokes behind the leader, managed to turn things around with a final round of 50 strokes (-4), for a total of 151 (-13).
The other side of the coin was for Gonzalo Rosa, who couldn't hold onto the lead he had achieved after the first two rounds. A card of 54 strokes, even par, relegated him to a bittersweet second place, two strokes behind the winner.
Luis Montero secured third place in this first National Pitch & Putt Qualifying Tournament. The Madrid native maintained his podium position from the start of the day with a score of 53 (-1).
Gonzalo Rosa, first leader of the tournament
The first National Pitch & Putt Qualifying Tournament kicked off in Gran Canaria with the usual first day, which consists of two rounds.
And after those 36 holes, the most accurate player was Gonzalo Rosa, with rounds of 48 and 49 strokes, for a total of 97 strokes (-11). This put the Andalusian player at the top of the leaderboard with a two-stroke advantage over Carlos Vega, and three over Luis Montero.
Likewise, for another year, Bodegas Habla has acted as a sponsor of the competition, presenting a valuable Magnum to the players who achieved a hole-in-one during the competition: Félix Bolívar, Juan A. Cubas, Miquel Deya, Ramón Rodríguez and Víctor Castellote.
