He won thanks to his good performance in the first round

Carlos González from Madrid has won the first title of the Spanish Regional Pitch & Putt Final, which was held at the La… course in Malaga.

Carlos González from Madrid has won the inaugural Spanish Regional Pitch & Putt Final, which chose the La Siesta course in Málaga as the venue for its first edition. The golfer from Club de Campo Villa de Madrid capped off his strong performance from the first day in the second round, overcoming Andrés Pastor's comeback attempt.

The Cordoba native, who had carded a remarkable 51 in his opening round, shot a 54 in his second 18 holes, a respectable result considering that Sunday's conditions were significantly worse than the previous day. His total of 105 strokes wasn't enough to challenge Carlos González's victory.

The Madrid native also carded a 54 in the second round, building on his sensational opening performance to further enhance his already enviable record. His 101 strokes proved insurmountable for the remaining 40 golfers.

Carlos González led the standings at the end of the first day after handing in a card of 47 strokes, two less than those established by fellow Madrid native Javier Parrilla, third in the final standings (108).

This competition was created by the Pitch & Putt Committee of the RFEG (Royal Spanish Golf Federation) to further promote a discipline that is very popular among Spanish golfers. Since the committee's creation in 2006, Pitch & Putt competitions have multiplied in Spain, resulting in the emergence of a large number of high-level golfers. Consequently, Spain is one of the leading powers in the sport on the continent.

FINAL RESULTS

1.- CARLOS GONZÁLEZ 101 (47+54)

2.- ANDRÉS PASTOR 105 (51+54)
