Macarena Campomanes finished a hard-fought tenth in the women's Senior Amateur Championship at Frilford Heath, near Oxford. Jacobo Cestino, the only Spanish participant in the men's competition, finished fifteenth. Both events were won by Americans.
The Madrid native saved her best round for Friday, a 76 for a +17 total that propelled her into the Top 10 after climbing the leaderboard following two opening rounds of 79. Her performance this week was truly commendable. María Castillo, eighteenth with +23, and Natalia Martínez-Reboredo, twenty-sixth with +29, were the other two Spanish players in the competition.
It's worth remembering that Macarena Campomanes, the top performer in the 2016 Spanish Women's Senior Championship, won what remains Spain's only title in the Women's Senior Amateur Championship in 2017. She secured this historic victory at the Royal Belfast course in Northern Ireland.

The men's competition has found notable representation in Jacobo Cestino, fifteenth with +4 after scoring a 70 on the starting grid that has left him just two strokes from the Top 10. With that result, the Andalusian has finished recovering from a difficult start (77).
