A mostly sunny day welcomed the participants on the opening day of the UGolf Aravell Andorra Open 2026 by Creand, which is being held on the spectacular UGolf Aravell Andorra course, just a few kilometers from the Principality.

This year the tournament celebrates its fifth edition, already established as one of the regular events of the Alps Tour since its creation in 2022, when it was created to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the host club.

The first day has been marked by a tight competition. Six players share the lead with a score of 68 (-4): Spaniards Anton Vázquez Muiños and amateur Pau Sánchez Marín, Swiss Maximilien Sturdza, Frenchman Alexandre Vandermoten, Dutchman Lars Keunen, and Italian Manfredi Manica. Furthermore, a large group of players are just one stroke behind the leader (-3), foreshadowing a fierce battle for the title in the coming days.

The race offers a total prize purse of €49,700 and 45,000 points for the Alps Tour Order of Merit. The winner will take home €7,200 and 6,525 points.

One of the day's stars was Anton Vázquez, who analyzed his performance as follows: “Overall, I hit the ball very well and made some good putts. I also made some mistakes; some I was able to recover from and others I couldn't, but I'm satisfied with my game. I made five birdies, an eagle, and three bogeys. The greens at UGolf Aravell Andorra are very undulating, and the break has a big impact, so it's crucial to land the ball on the right side. More than the score, I'm pleased with the commitment I showed on each shot and with having stayed focused on the present. My goal for the next rounds is to maintain that same attitude. Today I holed several important putts and made a couple of great recoveries. If I can improve my driver a bit, I think that could make all the difference.”.

Also shining was the 22-year-old amateur Pau Sánchez Marín, who signed a birdie on the last hole of the day to join the leading group and confirm the excellent start of the Spanish representation in the tournament.
