Ander Martínez, a professional golfer since 1996, has been elected as the new president of the Spanish Professional Golfers' Association for the next four years. He succeeds David Pastor, who has led the association for the last eight years.

The new PGA Board of Directors is composed of Ander Martínez, as president of the PGA of Spain; José Vicente Pérez Cuartero, vice president; José Marcellán, Alfredo Borrás, Antonio Planells, Marta Prieto, Carlos Vivas, Vicente Blázquez and Victoria Martín.

During the last few years, Ander Martínez has coordinated and worked on the National Professional Circuit project (Seve Ballesteros PGA Spain Tour) as Head of the Male Professional Area, collaborating closely with all members of the outgoing Board of Directors.

Ander Martinez is a professional player and member of the PGA since 1996, as well as the creator of his own golf school, which has been active for 25 years.

“Being a member of the PGA all these years has been a great privilege. I’ve agreed more with some boards of directors than others, but I have always been, and always will be, a member of the PGA; it’s my home, the home of professionals, and it’s an honor to be part of this spectacular family,” commented Ander Martínez at his induction ceremony.

His professional resume includes three trophies: the Challenge Ciudad de San Sebastián in 1999, the Open Zarauz in 2005 and the Laukariz Peugeot Loewe Tour in 2008. From 2012 to 2019 he worked as a golf course manager and has also worked as a caddie for various professionals on international circuits.

Joining him as vice president will be José Vicente Pérez Cuartero, who will continue his work in the Association's Training Department, as he has done in recent years. José Vicente is a Level II Sports Technician, a member of the Confederation of Professional Golfers' (CPG) golf development team, and the PGA's Director of Training since 2013. He also teaches, in addition to being a tutor at the National School of Golf Sports Technicians and a CPG tutor.

“In this electoral process, the union of three different candidacies has been key to forming a single one that will be much stronger, and it is only through unity that our group will have the recognition it deserves,” commented Ander Martínez.

“I want to thank this entire Board of Directors, my friends, colleagues, and especially my family for helping me make this very important decision. I also want to take this opportunity to publicly thank our previous president, David Pastor, and the previous Board of Directors for their hard work, dedication, and loyalty to the PGA. They all played a significant role in my decision. Thanks also to all our colleagues who have supported us, and I hope to live up to the position and continue fighting for our association as it deserves,” he added.
