Amateur golfer Álvaro Velasco won the second event of the 2005 European Junior Tour, held at Oliva Nova from February 16-19. The Barcelona native, a member of the Spanish national team on several occasions and winner of the 2001 Italian International Amateur Championship, totaled 208 strokes over the three days of competition, four fewer than English professional Andrew Willey, who finished second.

Álvaro Velasco positioned himself at the top of the leaderboard from the very beginning, battling relentlessly against numerous professional players participating in this European Professional Promises Tour, which, as its name indicates, brings together golfers who aspire to be part of the Challenge Tour and, even further, the European Professional Tour.

With a calendar that has planned the celebration of 21 events throughout 2005, Álvaro Velasco won in the second of them, in Oliva Nova (Valencia) thanks to three outstanding cards (68, 71 and 69 strokes) that took him to the top of the podium.

2.- Andrew Willey (England) 212 (70+70+72)
3.- Anthony Grenier (France) 213 (73+69+71)
