Local players Alejandro Muñoz and María Celia Cuartero have been proclaimed Spanish Individual Senior Pitch & Putt Champions in their respective categories after winning the second edition of this event, held at the Cofrentes course in Valencia.

Alejandro Muñoz, from Manises, won with a total of 117 strokes, split between rounds of 61 and 56. The latter, the best round seen in Cofrentes, allowed him to dethrone Francisco Javier López-Alonso (120) from Cantabria, who had to settle for second place.

Celia Cuartero Pérez, for her part, claimed victory in the women's competition after finishing the two days of play with a total of 116 strokes (58 strokes in each round). María Isabel Saiz, also from Valencia, took second place after a commendable performance—125 strokes, with rounds of 62 and 63—but far from the champion's score.

In addition to the prizes awarded by the representatives of the Pitch & Putt Committee of the Royal Spanish Golf Federation, there were two trophies offered by CG Cofrentes to the first-placed Handicap players, Miguel Blanco and Amparo Linares.

The creation of this Spanish Individual Senior Pitch & Putt Championship by the aforementioned federation committee responds to the need to meet the growing demand for competitions in this golf specialty, which has become so popular among Spanish players in recent times.
