The Spanish Men's Championship of the 2nd Category, which has been held at the Castellón course of Panorámica Golf, has concluded with the triumph of Alejandro Meneses.

The Madrid player did not have his best round, with a card of 82 strokes (+10), but he managed the five-stroke advantage with which he started the day and took the victory with one stroke less than Pablo Arroyuelos, who signed a final card of 75 strokes (+3).

The Basque golfer was one of the names of the day, climbing no less than nine places in the overall standings, while Samuel Abbisogno completed the podium, finishing two strokes behind the winner.

Andrés Arroyuelos, the best on the first day

The Castellón course of Panorámica Golf raised the curtain on the Spanish Individual Men's Championship of the 2nd Category, with the first day of competition, in which the most accurate player was Andrés Arroyuellos, with a card of 72 strokes, at par for the course.

The Basque player completed the course designed by the legendary German golfer Bernhard Langer with four birdies and four bogeys, enough to lead the standings with one stroke less than Alejandro Meneses and three over Jaime Ortiz de Lejarazu and Juan Francisco Escuriola.

In total, one hundred and twenty players started a competition in which it is necessary to have a playing handicap of no less than 4.5, a condition that means that, this time, twenty-seven participants are included within the handicap range between 4.5 and 5.0, a number that increases to forty-two if the limit extends to 5.5.

Alejandro Meneses, new leader of the tournament

Alejandro Meneses became the new rival to beat in the Spanish Men's Championship 2nd Category after signing a card of 76 strokes (+4) for a total of 149 strokes (+5), which gave a five-stroke advantage over his closest pursuers, Juan Francisco Escuriola and Andrés Arroyuellos, who share second place.

The second round also served to establish the cut in the ranking, which a total of 64 players passed.
