The Junquera municipal football pitch is located on the Astillero-Pedreña road, right at the entrance to the beautiful village of Pedreña, which belongs to the municipality of Marina de Cudeyo. The pitch's location is stunning, both for its scenic beauty and its strategic position.
The route has been adapted to the nature of the municipal land of La Junquera (it gets its name because in the past, the whole area was a marsh with vegetation where rushes abounded).
The course is located in Pedreña, a peninsula south of Santander Bay. Due to its location, scenery, and use of the land, La Junquera is unique among 9-hole courses; the views of the bay and the city of Santander, as well as the Picos de Europa mountains, are extraordinary.
The course at La Junquera de Pedreña municipal golf course, inaugurated in May 1997, is very challenging. Its characteristics require a high level of concentration; otherwise, double bogeys and even triple bogeys are almost guaranteed.
It is a short course but requires a lot of technique and precision; holes 2, 3 and 4, along with hole 6, are surely the most difficult, as the first two have their entire right side bordered by the bay.
The course isn't for playing a lot of woods; it's a course for good iron players, as well as those who excel in the short game and on the green.
