The Rules Technical Committee held two seminars this week concerning levels 1 and 2 of instruction for the new 2019 Rules of Golf. The venue was the headquarters of the Royal Spanish Golf Federation in Madrid, where nearly fifty instructors gathered.
The holding of these two seminars is part of the Teaching and Dissemination Plan for the new Rules, which was designed in early 2017. This plan was developed with the aim of contributing to the knowledge of the new Rules, and to raise awareness among clubs, amateur players, professional players, referees and other Committee members of the need to be prepared for this new stage.
The objective of the Level 1 conferences has been to prepare and train a group of 30 trainers - previously designated by the various Autonomous Federations - who in turn will be responsible for publicizing the new Rules through conferences and informative talks.
The RFEG has provided all attendees with educational materials to facilitate this teaching work, which will be carried out upon request of the entities in question.
The following day, Level 2 conferences took place, this time aimed at the Presidents of the Rules Committees of the various Regional Federations. This meeting focused on a more ambitious agenda, with the goal of preparing the different Federations to train both national and regional referees.
Both seminars concluded with a supplementary test, in order to verify the correct understanding and interpretation of the subjects taught.
It's worth remembering that there are less than three months until the new Rules come into effect, and therefore all fans are still encouraged to contact the RFEG Rules Committee with any questions related to them. These can be sent to the Committee by emailing comitereglas@rfegolf.es.
