Dear Navarrese golf family:
Having completed my first term, I begin my second with the same enthusiasm but with a greater understanding of our sport and our community. In this second term, I am joined by my fellow Board members who have worked for the federation these past four years, and I extend my gratitude to them for their dedication, hard work, and passion for golf.
After a pandemic with such painful memories and three years of management, we are beginning to reap the rewards of our work. Our teams compete with the grit expected of a Navarrese team, our young athletes train at the development center and are progressing steadily. It is a long process from which we hope to produce great athletes and great people.
The past four years have left us with the image of Carlota Ciganda being the heroine of the European Solheim Cup team and of Javi Barcos winning the European team championship twice.
Our flagship project, Navarra Golf, continues to provide excellent service to its members—an affordable, high-quality service, and, most importantly, it opens the door to new players who are drawn to our sport. This is the only way to grow. The second phase of this major project, the opening of a 6-hole pitch and putt course, is about to become a reality. It will open in the first months of 2025. With this addition, we complete the cycle for easy access to golf. We start on the course and then quickly move on to practicing what we've learned by playing on a proper course. This is the only way to retain beginners. We would like to take this opportunity to thank the Royal Spanish Golf Federation for their support, and in particular Gonzaga Escauriaza, a key figure in the project. Without them, it would not have been possible.
At the Federation, we have made a great effort to communicate with you, and we hope you feel that way. We are always attentive to your feedback and advice.
The main guidelines for this Board of Directors in the coming years will be:
- To put the P&P holes of Navarra Golf into operation, making it useful for the growth of golf and economically sustainable.
- Promoting golf in southern Navarre. We are working to create the first children's golf school in the Tudela area, which we consider to have great potential and already boasts a very committed golfing community.
- Given the current population pyramid, we face the challenge of growing in the youngest segment. Golf for children will be a special focus, with new projects, giving the importance that new young players have for the future of golf.
- We will continue to promote women's golf by expanding the range of competitions to satisfy the new generations of golfers who love competition and are deeply committed to the sport. It's an ambitious task that, with your help, we will accomplish. Thank you so much for your support, and as always, I am at your service.
A big hug.
