The Higher Sports Council hosted the presentation of the campaigns “Start to talk” and “Abuse off the field”, two initiatives developed to prevent and report sexual abuse in sport, especially in the area of minors.

Among those attending the event were Iñigo Méndez de Vigo, Minister of Education, Culture and Sports; Gustavo Suárez Pertierra, former minister and president of UNICEF Spain; and José Ramón Lete, president of the CSD, as well as athletes and representatives of various National Sports Federations.

Presentation of the “Start to Talk” and “Offside Abuse” campaigns. These are two campaigns to prevent and report sexual abuse in sports, especially among minors; attendees included Minister Méndez de Vigo, former Minister and President of UNICEF Spain, Suárez Pertierra, President of the CSD (Spanish National Sports Council), athletes, and representatives from sports federations.

The Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports and UNICEF signed an agreement that led to a debate in which José Hidalgo, president of the Spanish Triathlon Federation, played a prominent role.

During the meeting, it was proposed to create the figure of the Children's Advocate in the National Sports Federations; to open a section in the training of technicians and coaches on this issue; to carry out psychotechnical tests on technicians and coaches and future applicants; and to create specific Departments in the Federations that deal exclusively with abuse and harassment.

Likewise, the “I-protect in sport” campaign, in force since last January, dedicates a significant part of its work to working with “Educators”.

RFEG Advisory Committee for the Prevention, Detection and Action against Harassment and Sexual Abuse

To comply with these guidelines, the RFEG activated a protocol against harassment and sexual abuse in 2014, considering it an effective tool in the prevention and detection of this type of shameful behavior.

The Advisory Committee for the Prevention, Detection and Action against Harassment and Sexual Abuse aims to prevent possible situations of harassment and sexual abuse among professionals and federated athletes who provide services or collaborate for the Royal Spanish Golf Federation.

The Protection Delegate, appointed by the President of the Royal Spanish Golf Federation, is Jaime Díaz-Pines.
