The Madrid Golf Courses Association now comprises 15 golf courses, with the addition last December of the Royal Automobile Club of Spain, the New Madrid Golf Club and the Villa de Madrid Country Club.
In 2014 the Association was founded with the following golf courses: Retamares Golf Club, Lomas Bosque Golf Club, Negralejo Golf Club, La Dehesa Golf Club, Santander Golf Club, Real Club de Golf La Herrería, Madrid Federation Technical School, National Center of the Royal Spanish Golf Federation, El Robledal Golf Club, Somosaguas-La Finca, El Encin Golf Hotel and Olivar de la Hinojosa.
As its president, Gregorio González de Irún, explains, “Over the past three years, we have worked to foster an alliance of Madrid’s leading golf courses to develop and promote a golf destination, as well as create a platform to defend the collective interests of golf courses and work as a team with the institutions of the Community of Madrid. We are entering a new phase for the Association in 2018 with Javier Ínsula as president and the addition of JGolf 18.0 to manage the Association, under the direction of Javier Gervás.”
During 2017, the Association, together with Turismo Madrid, participated in numerous international golf tournaments, as well as tourism fairs such as the World Travel Market and IGTM. Agreements were signed with leading golf tour operators to begin promoting Madrid as a golf destination.
In 2018, the aim is to consolidate Madrid's position as a "Golf City Break" destination and extend the collaboration agreement with IFEMA to offer all visitors the opportunity to play on our wonderful golf courses. An increasing number of international golfers are visiting Madrid and taking advantage of the opportunity to play golf.
