The Royal Spanish Golf Federation wishes to inform about the current development of the new SPORTS TECHNICIAN QUALIFICATIONS IN GOLF and the different levels that can be taken, as well as clarify the situation of the old qualifications in this new period in which we find ourselves.
The RFEG, through the Training Department, manages the "National School of Golf Sports Technicians" for this modality and its specialty in Pitch & Putt.
We receive many inquiries about the status of the new teacher qualifications, raised both by technicians who are already practicing their profession and want to know how this new framework affects them, and by applicants who want to obtain their qualification and train in the profession from the ground up.
Since 1994, the Spanish public administration has been developing its competencies in the training of Sports Technicians, aiming to standardize the knowledge of technicians across different sports disciplines. These regulations concerning Sports Technician qualifications have established different levels of training: I, II, and III.
Upon completion of the aforementioned courses, the interested party obtains the title of Sports Technician (Intermediate Level) and of Higher Sports Technician (Higher Level), in the corresponding modality or specialty.
Thus, the RFEG is currently undertaking, in collaboration with the Higher Sports Council and the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport of the Community of Madrid, the reform of the “National School of Golf Sports Technicians”.
The RFEG is seeking to design an updated professional profile, according to the current needs of the industry.
In this sense, the aim is to establish guidelines for building a profession in which the new Technician achieves:
-More detailed and comprehensive training
-A positioning in the most competitive sector
-Greater potential in their professional performance
-Greater employability within the industry
To enhance the configuration of new training programs, the RFEG is implementing its "COMPETENCY" TRAINING MODEL, ensuring the technical knowledge and skills of golf professionals, thus guaranteeing excellence in their activity.
Each Course/Level of the Program contains 3 Training Blocks, which comprise different Areas and Subjects of study and activities:
-Common Block: contains subjects that are common to all sports modalities.
-Specific Block: subjects related to the aspects, skills and functions linked to the sport modality (Golf).
-Practical Block: supervised activities, specially designed for the development of cases and "role playings" of teaching skills and tasks in the operation of the facility.
To address any questions you may have about this topic, we have included a PDF document, which you can download here, explaining the course features, access requirements, and the process for recognizing past federation qualifications.
We hope and trust that this information will clear up any doubts. However, we will continue to provide updates on any new developments, as well as information on the courses offered each year.
